Advocates for Chinese Education
About Us
Advocates for Chinese Education (ACE), founded in January of 2005, is a coalition of San Franciscans who are focused on preparing our students for the global future and building our community's fabric by fostering the learning of Chinese language (Mandarin) and culture. We are parents, educators, students and professionals who recognize China as the next superpower and the demand for Chinese language speakers.
ACE is a non-profit organization of parents and educators focused on promoting Mandarin language and cultural programs in San Francisco. We feel strongly that for our children to participate in the future global economy they need the skills to engage China at every level. Join us in making this a priority.
Our Mission
Advocating, developing and enabling Chinese language and culture for our schools and community.
Our Accomplishments:
· Initiated the first Mandarin Immersion (MI) programs within the San Francisco Unified School District at Starr King Elementary School for Fall 2006.
· Initiated the second MI programs at Jose Ortega Elementary School for Fall 2007.
· Instrumental in the creation and passage of the Board of Education Resolution " In Support of Expanding and Strengthening Mandarin and Other 2-Way Language Immersion Programs in San Francisco Schools
· Developed and implemented Mandarin Play and Learn classes for toddlers and preschool children
· The process of parents partnering with the Board of Education, the City of San Francisco, Parents for Public Schools (PPS) and the SFUSD, in the establishment of new programs is a wonderful precedent and one that ACE is proud to have set.
